Senior Director of Research and Development Programs, Regulatory and Quality
Dr. Blanco is the Senior Director for Research and Development Programs, Regulatory and Quality at the Alfred E. Mann Institute for Biomedical Engineering at AMI-USC. Dr. Blanco has more than 35 years of experience in biomedical research and research administration, clinical research and clinical research monitoring, program management, and business development.
Dr. Blanco has championed the creation of multidisciplinary teams at USC to bring together the necessary expertise to develop point-of-care mobility monitoring systems (founding member and Co-Director of the USC Center for Interactive Media Technologies in Healthcare; member mHealth collaboratory). He launched and manages two translational research and development programs at AMI (thermally triggered adhesives and novel prohealing stent coatings). Cesar has also participated in two clinical studies of high-resolution transmission ultrasound mammography systems and the application of pulsed power technologies for the treatment of skin lesions.
His interests span chemical engineering and materials development, nano-bioengineering, information technology, emHealth, neuromuscular system physiology, and rehabilitation.
Dr. Blanco received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology and his PhD in Anatomy and Cell Biology from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). He completed the Certificate in Executive Management from the UCLA Anderson School of Management. Cesar is a Fellow of the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering.
