LaunchPad Process

The Alfred E. Mann Institute views its mission to be helpful to inventors from USC. If you have a product idea with a medical or biology application, we would welcome your visit or phone call.

We extend our help in different forms that may accelerate the commercialization of your novel concept.

Our friendly approach starts with a conversation with our team. In this setting, we invite you to share your idea, your perspective on its applications and the work that you have done thus far. We invite innovators with just a clinical need and an idea or more advanced inventors with prototypes.

From the meeting, we discuss what would be most useful to help assess the strength of the concept. Sometimes, the first step is an intellectual property analysis to see if someone else is working in the same space. It may a market analysis to size the potential of the idea and paint the competitive landscape.

Upon positive findings, we join forces with you to run a clinical or technical feasibility assessment.

Finally, we gather all our findings into a business plan that outlines best possible options for launching the commercialization of the innovation.
