Research Lab Specialist: Research and Development
Ms. Chen’s work experience with AMI-USC started as a student worker in 2013. After her graduation in May 2014, AMI recruited Nan to continue her work with AMI’s adhesives development program. Nan is involved in the development and testing of a novel class of adhesives developed by AMI-USC and is responsible for synthesizing multiple formulations for the characterization and tests of materials in accordance with laboratory and safety protocols. Additional responsibilities include maintaining accurate records of all procedures, testing protocols, and results. Nan also joined the Vascular Nanostructures and Topographies Program later on. Her responsibilities include research and development of nano-engineered surfaces and materials.
Nan’s undergraduate research experience included modification and characterization of polymer blends with topics on Unique Homo-crystallization and Melting Behavior of Poly(L-lactic acid): Influence of Stereocomplex with Varied Structures; Crystalline Structure, Thermal and Biodegradable Properties of Poly(L-lactic acid)/Poly(D-lactic acid)/POSS melting blends; Nanocomposites: Synthesis and Characterization of Grafted MWCNTs-PLLA Polymer Blends.
Ms. Chen obtained a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Polymer Science and Engineering from the East China University of Science and Technology (Shanghai, China) in 2012 and a Master of Science degree in Materials Science from the University of Southern California (USC) in 2014.
