Seeking AMI Funding

AMI invests in and oversees the development of novel biomedical devices and technologies principally by USC faculty and staff with potential commercial value and that can significantly improve health.

AMI funds only inventions that originate from USC. On a limited basis, AMI will consider inventions from innovators outside of USC, if the field of the invention overlaps with some of the research work conducted at USC.

AMI will fund product ideas that:

  • Are substantiated by scientific data
  • Are capable of generating valuable intellectual property
  • Are ready to enter the device development phase
  • Promise significant impact on the betterment of human health
  • Have significant commercial potential

AMI only funds projects that are directed toward commercialization.

Once the product is commercialized and licensed to a third party, the income from the licensing is shared between the inventor(s), USC, AMFBE and AMI.

AMI encourages discussing product ideas prior to submission of a full proposal.
