The University of Southern California’s Viterbi School of Engineering and the Alfred E. Mann Institute for Biomedical Engineering at the University of Southern California (AMI-USC) are pleased to announce that Joyita Dutta has been selected as an Alfred E. Mann Innovation in Engineering Fellow. The fellowships were established in 2008 to support and advance innovative cutting edge research in Bio-Engineering. Ms Dutta joins Jay Mung and Hsiu Cheng Hsu as the Mann Innovation in Engineering Fellows for 2009-2010. We offer our congratulations to Joyita Dutta and our best wishes for continued success to Jay Mung and Hsiu Cheng Hsu.
Joyita Dutta is developing a novel 3-D in vivo imaging system for fluorescence tomography. This work is being done in the laboratory of Dr. Richard M. Leahy (Professor, Ming Hsieh Department of Electrical Engineering) in collaboration with Dr. Simon Cherry at the University of California, Davis. She is developing theoretical computational methods for forward modeling and image reconstruction that will improve image resolution. Her approach to developing this system is both theoretical and practical. The Alfred E. Mann Innovation in Engineering Pre-doctoral Fellowship to Ms. Dutta is renewable on a yearly basis for up to two years.
AMI-USC would also like to thank the Members of Selection Committee for their hard work and for representing the USC Viterbi School of Engineering, the USC Stevens Institute for Innovation, the Office of the Vice Provost for Research Advancement, the Alfred Mann Foundation for Biomedical Engineering as well as AMI-USC.
