AMI-USC has developed an infant positioner for the prevention of plagiocephaly (“Flat-head syndrome”) based on an invention from a Family Medicine physician at USC. The institute has obtained FDA clearance for the product.
A Colorado based company, Basic Comfort, Inc, the largest manufacturer of infant positioners nationally and internationally, licensed this product from AMI-USC. Basic Comfort manufactures infant positioners for BabiesRUS, Target and JC Penney. The company is entering a new strategic phase focused on bringing more medically oriented solutions to parents and empower them with prevention solutions. The Infant Positioner for Plagiocephaly Prevention is marketed by Basic Comfort under the name of Symmetry Sleep System .
